These scholarships are open for international students of all nationalities.

 
Eligibility Criteria
English Language Requirements:

To show English language eligibility for Åbo Akademi University's international master's programs, you must meet one of the following criteria:

  • TOEFL iBT: Minimum score of 92. Scores are valid for two years. Share directly via code 9880 or upload a PDF.
  • IELTS Academic: Minimum overall score of 6.5 (no band below 5.5). Share directly or upload a PDF. Scores are valid for two years.
  • PTE Academic: Minimum score of 62. Upload a PDF with your Score Report Code. Scores are valid for two years.
  • Cambridge English C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency: Pass level A, B, or C. Share results directly or upload your Statement of Results. Only tests after 2005 are accepted.
  • National Certificate of Language Proficiency (YKI): Level 5 in all subparts (speaking, listening, writing, reading). Upload your certificate for verification.
  • University Degree in English: Completed in an EU/EEA country, Switzerland, the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, or specified English-speaking countries from 2024 onwards. Upload your degree certificate and transcripts.

Ensure all documents meet submission guidelines and your scores are valid during the application period.

 

Academic Requirements:

 

To apply for an international master’s program, you need a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, equivalent to a Finnish university degree (180 ECTS or 3 years of full-time study). Specific program requirements may vary, but you typically need at least 60 ECTS in your major subject. If you haven't received your degree yet, you can still apply, but your degree and transcripts will be assessed individually.

If admitted, you may need to complete up to 60 ECTS of supplementary studies if you lack certain prerequisites. Degrees from Finnish polytechnics may require additional coursework. Contact the program for more details.

  • Application Period: January 8th 2025 (8:00 AM) to January 22nd 2025 (3:00 PM) (Helsinki Time)  
  • Deadline to Submit Documents: 29th January, 2025
  • Application Results & Scholarship Offers: Sent by email in early April.
  • Offer Acceptance Deadline: July 10th 2025 (3:00 PM) (Helsinki Time)
Steps to Take:
  • Find Your Program: Browse the full list of programs to find the perfect fit for your interests.
  • Review Requirements: Ensure you meet the academic and English language requirements.
  • Prepare Your Documents: Gather scanned copies of your transcripts, degree certificate, passport, and any program-specific requirements. Electronic translations may be needed if documents are not in English, Swedish, or Finnish.
  • Apply via Studyinfo.fi: The application form is only available during the designated period (January 8th - 22nd). You can apply to up to 6 programs from different universities within one application.
  • Scholarship Opportunities: If applicable for tuition fees, you can apply for a scholarship during the application process.  
  • Submit Your Application: Carefully review your application before submitting it. You can modify it until the deadline, but not after.
  • Submit Enclosures: Upload your scanned documents within one week after the application deadline.
