The Hardiman PhD Scholarships provide exceptional candidates with:

• A generous stipend of €25,000 per year for four years.
• Full coverage of tuition fees for the duration of the PhD.

This scholarship is open to international students of all nationalities.

To qualify, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Hold a first or upper second-class honors degree (or equivalent).
• Be a new entrant to PhD studies (current or past PhD students are ineligible).
• Meet the English language requirements outlined by the University of Galway.

Find a Supervisor

• Identify and nominate a supervisor aligned with your research interests.
• A completed Supervisor Form must be submitted by 7 February 2025, 17:00 (Irish Time).

Submit Your Application

• Complete the official application form, available in English and Irish.
• Ensure submission by the deadline: 7 February 2025, 17:00 (Irish Time).

Provide Academic References

• Secure two academic references to support your application.
• References must also be submitted by the closing date.

Assessment Process

Your application will be evaluated based on:

• Personal Research Statement (50 points)
• Academic Qualifications (30 points)
• Referees’ Reports (10 points)
• Prior Research Experience (10 points)

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews between 10 April and 23 April 2025, conducted via Skype, MS Teams, or Zoom.
